The fake account spread false statements attributed to the army chief as part of a campaign to discredit Ukraine's military leadership, the CCD said.
The center also warned that posts attempting to discredit acting Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Yevhenii Khmara, Land Forces commander Maj. Gen. Hennadiy Shapovalov, and other senior defense force officials have been appearing on social media.
The goal of these posts is to sow division and distrust of military leadership among the public and soldiers by spreading false biographical information and creating artificially inflated expectations through fake accounts, among other tactics.
A post appeared on July 26 on an X account created in July 2026 that claimed to be Drapatyi's, announcing the "start of an audit" within Ukraine's Armed Forces. The post claimed "no one would be untouchable" and that everyone involved in alleged violations would be held accountable.
Serhiy Sternenko, a former defense ministry adviser, blogger and volunteer, said the claim was fake.
Ukraine's General Staff confirmed the X account that had published the post about a supposed "audit" did not belong to Drapatyi.
General Staff spokesman Dmytro Lykhoviy said on July 27 that a targeted disinformation operation was being conducted against new Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi.
