The head of the regional medical and social expert commission in the city of Mykolaiv is suspected of organizing corruption schemes for draft evaders, Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) reported on Oct 22.

More than $450,000 in cash, a collection of jewelry, and a Russian passport belonging to the suspect’s son were found during searches of various properties owned by the family. The Russian citizenship was obtained at the former Russian Consulate General in Odesa before the full-scale Russian invasion.

The official registered three undisclosed apartments for her son to hide her illegal income.

The investigation revealed that from 2015 to 2023, the suspect only declared an official income of just over 2 million UAH (less than $50,000).

In addition, the suspect registered herself and her son as Group II disabled in 2023 in order to receive additional benefits and social payments from the state.

The investigation is ongoing, and a decision will be made on whether to send the official a notice of suspicion based on the evidence gathered.

This follows an earlier report by the Prosecutor General's Office on Oct. 5 that Tetyana Krupa, head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Medical and Social Expertise Center, was suspected of illegal enrichment.

The Prosecutor General's Office reported that nearly $6 million in various currencies was seized from Krupa during searches.

In her office, authorities found $100,000, forged medical documents, lists of draft evaders with false diagnoses, and in her home more than $5 million, €300,000, 5 million hryvnia, and documents indicating money laundering.
