The defense of Myrnohrad in Donetsk Oblast is collapsing, and the town is being taken by Russian forces, OSINT (open-source intelligence) project DeepState reported via Telegram on Feb. 16.

DeepState reported activity by hostile drones over the northern part of nearby Pokrovsk and said Russian infantry are entering the city. The group said Russian units are also trying to infiltrate the village of Hryshyne via the northwest outskirts of Pokrovsk.

Analysts added that enemy forces are massing on the western outskirts of Hryshyne and are exchanging fire with Ukrainian units.

“In addition to attempts to infiltrate Hryshyne from Pokrovsk, [the Russians] have tried from Kotlyne, but they have been blocked and destroyed there,” the report said.

Furthermore, Russian troops have occupied the settlement of Rivne and are pressing on the neighboring village of Svitlyne.

“Consolidation in this area would allow the enemy to amass forces for further advance into the gap between Pokrovsk and Rodynske, increasing the risk to the remaining Ukrainian units around Myrnohrad,” the message added.

On Feb. 9, DeepState warned the situation near Pokrovsk was worsening, with Russian infantry entering the northern part of the city and chaotic fighting continuing in Myrnohrad.
