According to the investigation, the SBU official and accomplices demanded $300,000 from an individual under operational surveillance in a case involving the illegal transfer abroad of persons subject to draft.
The official allegedly promised to destroy parts of the case materials and reveal established facts in exchange for the payment, threatening stricter criminal charges if the demand was refused.
The suspects were charged after receiving a portion of the illicit benefit, amounting to $72,000.
On July 21, Ukraine’s SBU Security Service and the Office of the Prosecutor General conducted approximately 70 searches targeting NABU employees, alleging Russian influence within the agency.
The SBU detained Ruslan Magamedrasulov, a head of NABU’s interregional detective units, for allegedly conducting business with Russia.
According to the SBU and Prosecutor General’s Office, Magamedrasulov maintained contacts with Russian representatives and facilitated his father’s illegal trade in technical hemp to Russia’s Dagestan Republic, failing to disclose his father’s Russian citizenship.
The SBU is also investigating Magamedrasulov’s potential ties to Russian intelligence and the transfer of sensitive information, including details of planned investigative actions.
The SBU further claimed Magamedrasulov was closely connected to Fedor Khrystenko, a fugitive MP from the banned Opposition Platform-For Life party, identified as a senior FSB agent tasked with enhancing Russian influence over NABU. Khrystenko was charged in absentia with treason under martial law and abuse of influence.
Additionally, the SBU detained an NABU employee from the elite D-2 unit, accusing them of spying for Russia’s FSB under the coordination of Dmytro Ivantsov, a former deputy head of security for ex-President Viktor Yanukovych.
Separately, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) pressed charges against three NABU employees for traffic accidents causing injuries to victims, which occurred on unspecified dates in Kyiv (two pedestrian hit-and-runs) and on the Kyiv-Odesa highway (a collision during overtaking).
