The initiative, which involves NATO members transferring military equipment and placing orders with U.S. defense contractors for replacements, marks a new phase in international support for Ukraine.
“In response to Ukraine’s needs, new aid packages are being prepared quickly and on a regular basis,” the source said.
“The first two packages were funded by the Netherlands on Aug. 4 and by Denmark, Finland and Sweden on Aug. 5. We expect the first deliveries in the coming weeks.”
The official added that the new military aid packages under PURL will be prepared promptly and provided regularly. An announcement on additional participants joining the program is expected soon.
On Aug. 4, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announced the United States and NATO are launching a new mechanism to support Ukraine through the PURL initiative. The effort will create a list of essential equipment and ammunition based on Ukraine’s requests and confirmed by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
