A source indicated that Trump is set to arrive in The Hague after 7:00 p.m. on June 24.
“The meeting may indeed take place tomorrow,” a well-informed diplomatic source said regarding the anticipated talks between the Ukrainian and American leaders.
Another source noted that the U.S. administration delayed confirming Trump’s attendance at the summit, but organizers, at Washington’s request, shortened the event’s program in advance.
Zelenskyy is also scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte during the summit.
A source told Radio NV that the summit’s final communique will include a mention of Ukraine, despite expectations that the Middle East conflict will dominate discussions.
On June 24, Zelenskyy confirmed his intention to meet Trump during the NATO Summit, held on June 24-25 in The Hague, the first under new NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, former Dutch prime minister. Western media suggest the Russia-Ukraine war may take a backseat to Middle East issues at the summit.
Zelenskyy had planned to meet Trump at the G7 Summit in Canada on June 15-17. However, CNN reported on June 17, citing the White House, that Trump left the G7 early due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. The G7 Summit ended without a communique due to disagreements with Trump. Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney, the summit chair, however, did mention support for Ukraine in his statement.
