The Netherlands will allocate an additional EUR 271 million ($294
million) towards procuring artillery ammunition for Kyiv, Dutch PM announced on
Oct. 17.
Schoof suggested the funds will be spent on contracting shells produced by the European defense industry.
“With this we help Ukraine with the ammunition supplies in 2025 and stimulate the European defense industry to scale up further,” the PM said in a Twitter post.
The funding will be administered through the ammunition supply initiative that Denmark, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands set up in 2023.
“A year ago, we started an initiative for the supply of ammunition and today we are taking a good next step,” said Schoof.
“We will deliver more large caliber artillery ammunition.”
