Konstantin Nemichev, founder of Kraken, a unit with Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR), made the corresponding statement via Telegram.
Nemichev siad that along part of the border there is a roughly 5-kilometer “buffer zone” with no permanent presence of either Ukrainian forces or the Russian army. He said Moscow has taken advantage of that gap to stage incursions.
He added that Russian troops recently made limited advances in the town of Vovchansk.
“Remember, Russia aims to link its forces in Vovchansk and Dvorichna,” Nemichev said.
“These moves could be part of preparations for new offensive operations. If the enemy fails to capture Kupiansk, it will most likely redirect its efforts here. We must act now to strengthen our defenses while we still can.”
On Oct. 26, Ukraine’s 16th Army Corps denied Russian claims that Moscow’s forces had seized 70 percent of Vovchansk.
Ukrainian soldiers also reported that Russian units unable to cross the Siverskyi Donets River “found themselves effectively cut off from main forces.”
Also on Nov. 10, the Kharkiv operational-tactical grouping said Russian propaganda claims of significant successes in Vovchansk were false.
