Pavel Rozhkov, president of the Russian Paralympic Committee
(RPC), announced that Russian athletes have decided to decline participation as
spectators after being prohibited from attending the parade.
“We were invited to the ceremony as spectators. But we
decided to decline because it makes no sense. The procedure is lengthy and
arduous, and some athletes have competitions starting the next day. Even when
everything was fine, not all athletes participated in the opening ceremony for
these reasons,” Rozhkov told the sports portal “VseProSport.”
It should be noted that the torch-lighting ceremony for the
2024 Paralympics has already taken place.
Earlier, information emerged about how many Russians and
Belarusians will compete in the 2024 Paralympics.
