The Norwegian government is contributing EUR332 million ($362
million) to the Czech-led 155mm ammunition procurement program to support the
Ukrainian military, according to an announcement on April 7.
Additionally, Norway will provide EUR83 million ($91 million) through the European Peace Facility (EPF).
“This is the primary need—ammunition—that Ukrainians have clearly conveyed to us, and European countries are working together to meet it,” said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Støre reiterated that Europe must assume more responsibility “for Ukraine’s fight for freedom.”
According to the statement, under the EPF funding, Ukraine will receive military aid that includes artillery ammunition, air defense systems, and orders for Ukrainian arms manufacturers.
