Russia’s Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery suspends operations after drone attack in Rostov Oblast

According to him, Russian air defenses “destroyed” about 50 drones over Rostov Oblast. However, one of the drones damaged an oil refinery, forcing the facility to halt operations.

The Novoshakhtinsk refinery primarily produces fuel for export. It has a refining capacity of about 5 million metric tons of oil per year, or roughly 100,000 barrels per day.

Earlier reports said a large fire broke out overnight at an oil refinery in Perm, Russia, after a drone strike. Monitoring channels also reported attacks in Rostov and Voronezh oblasts. In Ulyanovsk, OSINT analysts said a defense plant that produces components for Russian missiles was hit.

Ukraine’s General Staff later confirmed strikes on two Russian oil refineries — Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez in Perm and the Novoshakhtinsk refinery in Rostov Oblast. Russian Gamma-S1 and Kasta-2E2 radar stations were also hit in the Novoshakhtinsk area.
