Fayard is the only shipyard in the European Union that continues to provide dry-dock services for Arc7-class vessels, the FT said. An analysis by the nongovernmental organization Urgewald found that six of 15 Arc7 ships are scheduled for repairs at the Danish yard this summer, before an EU ban on servicing LNG tankers operated by Russia comes into force in 2027.
According to Fayard’s annual report, the company serviced five tankers that arrived from the Yamal peninsula in 2025.
The FT noted that the EU sharply reduced imports of Russian
gas after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine but has been slow to eliminate remaining
supplies because of heavy reliance on external energy sources and high energy
prices.
