Hungarian PM Orbán responds to Zelenskyy’s critique with a call for Ukraine to decide on a truce proposal

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s claim that he lacks leverage over Vladimir Putin on X on Dec. 18.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán called on Ukraine to accept or reject a ceasefire proposal, saying, “We will not respond to any provocations. There is a ceasefire proposal on the table. Accept it or refuse it. It is your responsibility,” he wrote on X on Dec. 18.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized Orbán’s efforts to mediate between Ukraine and Russia, stating the Hungarian leader lacks leverage over Vladimir Putin.
“Does anyone else in Europe have such experience now? No one. Does Orbán have such an army? No. How will he put pressure on Putin? With a joke, a smile? Let him keep it to himself,” Zelenskyy said.
