Over $1 billion at stake: IMF begins discussions on next tranche for Ukraine

On Sept. 4, the
IMF mission led by Gavin Gray began discussions with Ukrainian authorities
in Kyiv as part of the fifth review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF)
program.
IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Priscilla Toffano
confirmed this, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
Details about the mission, including its timeline, were not
provided.
The focus of the fifth review of the EFF program will be on
fiscal issues and finding funding sources for the coming years, considering
potential revisions to the estimated duration of the war.
The
IMF’s board of directors completed the fourth review of the EFF program for
Ukraine on June 28 and approved the disbursement of the fifth tranche,
approximately $2.2 billion. Following the next review, scheduled for late
September, an additional $1.1 billion is expected to be added to the budget.
