Odesa faces partial power outage and disruptions in electric transport following recent drone attack

Fragments of a downed drone caused damage to an energy facility in Odesa Oblast, leading to a fire and subsequent power outage in parts of the regional center and surrounding settlements. The fire has been extinguished, and there were no reported injuries. Restoration and repair efforts are underway.

Odesa City Council’s update on Telegram confirms the suspension of electric transport services for the day. In response, arrangements have been made to increase the availability of buses on affected routes.

DTEK, the energy company, reported damage to one of Ukrenergo’s high-voltage power facilities by the Russian military, leaving residents of the Peresypskyi district without electricity. Although power has been restored to critical infrastructure, emergency outages are still being implemented in the city and district, with industrial consumption currently restricted to ease the strain on the grid.

Furthermore, on March 22, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, deploying Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

Kharkiv suffered extensive power outages, impacting water and heat supply services.

The Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant in Zaporizhzhya was targeted, sustaining significant damage, including to its power tower and crane beams, resulting in a fire.

Approximately 20 missiles were fired at the plant, leading to a loss of 20% of its regulatory capacity and requiring extensive restoration efforts.

Similar attacks occurred in Kryvyi Rih, leading to blackout schedules, and damage was also reported in Odesa Oblast.
