Pentagon announces $425 million Ukraine aid package

The U.S. Department of Defense will deliver another $425 million security assistance package to Ukraine, the Pentagon announced on Nov. 1.

The package includes anti-air interceptor missiles, artillery shells, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons. According to the message, its contents are as follows:

  • Ammunition for NASAMS anti-air systems;
  • HIMARS rocket artillery ammunition;
  • Stinger MANPADS anti-air missiles;
  • Equipment and munitions for countering UAVs;
  • Air-to-surface munitions;
  • 155mm and 105mm artillery shells;
  • Tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided (TOW) missiles;
  • Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
  • Stryker armored personnel carriers;
  • Small arms and ammunition.

On Oct. 31, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced the expedited delivery of new security assistance to Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated he had reached an agreement with U.S. President Joe Biden for regular deliveries of military aid. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine will receive weapons packages every two to three weeks.
