The Northern Lights — an optical effect where parts of the night sky glow in vibrant colors—are visible within 20-35° of the Earth's magnetic poles.
Ukraine, which sits between latitudes 52° and 44°, usually falls outside this range.
The Northern Lights became visible in many countries far from the poles due to a G4-level geomagnetic storm.
Residents in Ukrainian oblasts also caught a glimpse of the vivid pink glow lighting up the night sky for a brief period.
This wasn’t the only celestial event visible in Ukraine that night.
The Perseid meteor shower, an annual event that occurs every August, was also active, allowing stargazers to witness the spectacular sight of shooting stars.
This wasn't the first time Ukrainians have seen the Northern Lights this year.
A bright pink-red aurora was also visible in the Ukrainian sky on the night of May 11.
