The incident in Wyryki-Wola, Lublin Province, was caused by a Russian drone attack.
"There are several plausible hypotheses, and each one needs to be checked. It would be irresponsible to draw conclusions today," Kosiniak-Kamysz said, addressing earlier media reports that the house was destroyed by an interceptor missile fired from a Polish F-16 fighter jet.
He cautioned against drawing premature conclusions and urged waiting for the prosecutor’s office to complete the investigation.
Earlier that day, Tomasz Siemoniak, Member of the Council of Ministers for Special Services, confirmed that preliminary evidence suggested that a missile fired by a Polish jet had hit the building while intercepting Russian drones that had violated Polish airspace.
“Everything indicates that it was a missile fired by our aircraft to defend Poland, to defend our homeland, to defend our citizens,” he said, adding that the Polish military would cover damages from the strike.
On the night of Sep. 10, at least 21 Russian drones crossed into Polish airspace, most from Belarus. Four were shot down by Polish and NATO forces. Though all the drones were technically capable of carrying explosives, they were found to be “empty.”
