The investigation is being led by a prosecutor from the Małopolska branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office’s Department for Organized Crime and Corruption.
According to investigators, the fire at WB Electronics SA’s facility in Skarżysko-Kamienna began on Aug. 31 after an incendiary device containing flammable materials was planted.
“The fire destroyed warehouse facilities, and the losses amount to at least PLN15 million [$3.8 million],” prosecutors said.
The plant, located between Warsaw and Kraków, makes military drone components used by both Poland and Ukraine.
Polish news outlet Onet reported that security cameras
recorded an unidentified person wearing a balaclava. The person entered the
facility by climbing over a fence. An abandoned backpack and a long-sleeved
shirt were later found near the plant.
