Earlier it was reported that American and European leaders are working at an accelerated pace on security guarantees for Ukraine to lay the groundwork for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin.

At the White House summit on Monday, where Zelenskyy met with U.S. President Donald Trump and several European leaders, Washington confirmed its clear readiness to support security guarantees for Ukraine.

The package of guarantees will be based on the work of the Coalition of the Willing, a European group led by the United Kingdom and France, and is expected to include future multinational forces. The format of this initiative is still being finalized.

Zelenskyy-Putin meeting

Vladimir Putin confirmed he is ready to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, AFP reported. The confirmation came during his phone call with Trump.

French President Emmanuel Macron has proposed holding peace talks between Putin and Zelenskyy in Geneva, which could serve as a neutral venue for the summit.

Although the Kremlin has not yet given formal approval, a senior U.S. administration official said the meeting could take place in Hungary. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz added that it is scheduled within the next two weeks.
