The expert explained who could replace Oleksandr Kubrakov,
who was dismissed from the post of Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of
Ukraine – Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure,
and when this might happen.
“There is talk that one of the deputy heads of the
Presidential Office, Oleksiy Kuleba, could take this position, given that he
was also the head of the [Kyiv] Oblast Military Administration and that he is
now in charge of the regions,” Dzhyhun said.
“It could be [Oleksiy] Chernyshov, who has already worked in
the Ministry of Regional Development, or [Vitaliy] Bezhin, a member of the
relevant committee, head of the subcommittee, who actually deals mainly with
local self-government and who was the first to write publicly about the talks
and desire to fire Kubrakov and disunite the ministry.”
The political analyst also suggested when the appointment
might be made.
“It seems to me that we will get a new minister either today
or not for months,” he said.
“Because this process can be seriously delayed – there are
both procedural and political issues regarding these appointments.”
The Ukrainian parliament dismissed Oleksandr Kubrakov from
the post of Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of
Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure on May 9. The decision
was adopted by 272 MPs.
The minister himself was not present in the hall during the
vote, according to Holos MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Kubrakov claimed that no one had discussed the decision to
dismiss him with him. He is, nonetheless, ready to provide a detailed report on
the work of the ministry in all areas.
Oleksandr Kubrakov had been the head of the Ministry of
Infrastructure of Ukraine since May 2021. In December 2022, the legislature appointed
him deputy prime minister and head of the new unified ministry.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denys
Shmyhal previously announced personnel changes.
