Russian drones targeted energy facilities in several oblasts of Ukraine, causing outages for household and industrial consumers on the night of Sept. 26, according to NPC Ukrenergo.

Energy experts report that most consumers have already had their power restored, although efforts to address the aftermath of the shelling are ongoing.

The Ukraine's Ministry of Energy noted that power outages occurred in 11 oblasts — Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv — due to shelling and fighting over the past day.

In Kyiv and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts, UAV attacks on substations caused equipment damage and a fire, resulting in partial blackouts, with restoration work still in progress.

In Dnipropetrovsk, shelling of a substation also ignited a fire, but consumers remained connected as the overhead line was shut down. In Odesa, power has now been restored after the overhead line was turned off during the alarm.

The Ministry of Energy reported that 1,484 subscribers in Chernihiv Oblast lost power due to the shelling.

Russian attack with drones and missiles on September 26

During the night and morning of Sept. 26, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using missiles and drones, with air defense shooting down 66 of 78 drones and four of six missiles.

In Kyiv, two people were injured, and homes and vehicles were damaged.

Russian strikes also caused damage to energy facilities in the Mykolaiv and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts.

In Zaporizhzhya Oblast, eight people were injured from a Russian missile strike, while one person was killed in Odesa due to a separate missile attack.
