This visit is Erdoğan's first trip to Washington for bilateral talks since the tenure of former President Donald Trump.
While detailed specifics of the visit remain under wraps, Reuters sources indicate that Ibrahim Kalin, Turkey's top intelligence official, is slated for discussions with U.S. House Representatives concerning Erdoğan's visit and other key bilateral matters.
Türkiye and the United States have agreed on a new framework for implementing secondary sanctions against Russia, the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reported on March 20.
"According to the system called 'sanctions compliance scheme,' the USA will first notify Türkiye of potential companies (violating sanctions) and request information on the matter," the publication said.
"If Türkiye conducts an investigation and reports the results, steps will be taken if deemed necessary."
