A corresponding resolution has been submitted on Dec. 16, according to Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, chair of the parliamentary Freedom of Speech Committee.
The decision follows Boyko publishing a controversial video, in which he criticized Ukrainian "radicals" and their alleged attempts to introduce a "ban on speaking one's native [Russian] language."
“Yuriy Boyko once again reminded everyone where his loyalties lie and whose interests he truly represents,” Yurchyshyn commented.
He added that Boyko should not be part of the human rights committee as he "foments interethnic discord, playing into the hands of the aggressor."
Boyko has been a member of the parliament since 2007, representing various Moscow-aligned political parties. In 2012-2014, he served as the Deputy PM under fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych.
