Sybiha: Putin’s missiles struck not just Ukrainians but the peace table in Abu Dhabi

“Peace efforts? A trilateral meeting in the UAE? Diplomacy? For Ukrainians, it was another night of Russian terror,” Sybiha said on Jan. 24. “Cynically, Putin ordered a brutal, mass missile strike on Ukraine at the very moment delegations were meeting in Abu Dhabi to push forward the peace process under U.S. auspices. His missiles struck not only our people, but the negotiating table itself.”

Russia’s assault hit Ukraine’s two largest cities — Kyiv and Kharkiv — targeting residential neighborhoods and critical energy infrastructure.

“This barbaric strike is yet more proof that Putin doesn’t belong at a negotiating table, but in the dock of a special tribunal,” Sybiha added.

According to Ukraine’s military, Russia launched 396 drones and missiles overnight, including Zircon hypersonic missiles, Kh-22 cruise missiles, Iskanders and Kh-59s.

In Kyiv, explosions damaged residential buildings, an office tower, the Roshen confectionery factory and multiple vehicles. Fires broke out in several districts.

Authorities said one person was killed and four others were injured. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that 6,000 buildings were left without heat, while water supply disruptions affected parts of the city. More than 88,000 households in the capital were without power.

Kharkiv also came under massive drone attack. Dozens of explosions were reported, damaging homes, a dormitory and a maternity hospital. Nineteen people were injured, including a child and a pregnant woman.

In Chernihiv, overnight strikes left the city almost entirely without electricity after energy facilities were damaged.
