“I have repeatedly raised this issue with our Western partners. A few years ago, it was very difficult to get through to them. Fortunately, they now understand that our assessment that Russia is, in a sense, at war with the entire West was correct,” he said.
Tusk noted that, during these discussions, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accuses him of wanting war, but stressed, “this war is already underway.” In Poland, it manifests in arson attacks, drone raids, tensions at the Belarus border, and increasingly aggressive cyberattacks.
“There will be more such cases throughout Europe. The war that Putin has declared on the West is also being waged within our societies. And here it is taking place in the most spectacular way. Putin has the tools to destroy both the EU as an organization and Europe as a cultural phenomenon.”
These tools include the “Russian fifth columns” operating within every European country.
