North Korea bolsters Russia’s war effort with new troop deployment

North Korea has deployed additional troops to Russia’s Kursk Oblast, Reuters reported on Feb. 27, citing South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS).
The exact number of troops that joined Russian forces to combat Ukrainian Armed Forces is currently unknown.
On Jan. 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the North Korean casualties in Russia had exceeded 4,000 soldiers.

On Feb. 23, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), said that Pyongyang plans to transfer 148 KN-23 ballistic missiles to Russia in 2025.
