Ukrainian parliament officials refused to release information about foreign trips by Servant of the People MP Yurii Koriavchenkov, who was recently spotted in Spain, Ukrainska Pravda reported on March 27.

Parliamentary staffers said that, because martial law is in effect in Ukraine, details of MPs’ official trips are designated as restricted information.

Ukrainska Pravda reported that Koriavchenkov left Ukraine for Spain the day after being questioned by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) on March 13.

Koriavchenkov told the newspaper he was in Spain on unpaid leave and said his travel was lawful. He said his wife had bought an apartment there, adding that the details would later appear in his asset declaration.

He would not say where his wife works. He also could not recall how often he visits his family in Spain or whether he spent New Year’s with them, though he acknowledged being with family in January, February, and March, including seven days in February while on what he called a "business trip."

Koriavchenkov did not comment on his NABU questioning.
