Recent attacks show Russia not observing ‘energy ceasefire,’ Zelenskyy says / The New Voice of Ukraine

In the past 24 hours, Russian shelling damaged energy infrastructure in Kherson—an apparent violation of the partial ceasefire agreement that was meant to safeguard energy facilities in both Ukraine and Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on March 27.

Previously, the United States announced it had secured preliminary commitments from Moscow and Kyiv to enact a pause in mutual attacks on energy infrastructure.

“If strikes hit Kherson and our power is disrupted because energy sites were targeted, civilians lose electricity,” Zelesnkyy said at a press conference in Paris.

“I believe the United States should act in response.”

The president added that Ukrainian officials will compile evidence of Russia’s shelling of Ukrainian energy facilities.

“The defense minister received my order, and we will prepare the documentation and turn it over to the United States,” he stated.

“Afterwards, we expect Washington to respond, as they told us they would react to any violation.”

Russian forces shelled Kherson City on March 27, killing two people. Local authorities said the attack left parts of the city without power and disrupted public transit.
