Occupying Russian troops have kidnapped and continue to torture a worker of Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Serhiy Potynha, Ukraine’s nuclear operator Energoatom said in a Facebook post on July 28.

"More than a month ago, on June 23, the invaders kidnapped Serhiy Potynha, an occupational safety engineer at Zaporizhzhya NPP," the message states.

Since the Russian occupation, Potynha has remained in Enerhodar and worked at the plant. It is reported that he was seen at the police department, where the Russians are holding the residents of Enerhodar and ZNPP employees. His family has confirmed that Serhiy is alive.

“While in the Russian captivity, Sergey regularly suffers torture and physical violence,” the message adds.

“After each torture session, the invaders send the engineer to the hospital so that he does not die.”

The Russians have not yet brought any charges against the man but continue to torture him, according to Energoatom.
