Russia attacks train stations in Lutsk, Fastiv and Kovel with Shahed drones

Russian forces launched Shahed drone strikes on train stations in Lutsk, Kovel and Fastiv during the day on Sept. 12. A drone struck a passenger train in Lutsk.

Updated at 4:47 p.m. Rail cars caught fire in Lutsk after the Russian strike, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said. The fire has been extinguished. The agency published photos from the site of the strike.

Volyn Oblast Military Administration head Roman Romaniuk warned at 3:31 p.m. that a large number of Russian drones were heading toward Volyn Oblast.

Ukrzaliznytsia board chairman Oleksandr Pertsovskyi said at 3:49 p.m. that Russian forces were attacking Ukrzaliznytsia and had struck Lutsk and Fastiv. He said passengers and staff had been evacuated in advance and no one was injured.

Local social media channels posted video of a train fire in Lutsk after a Shahed drone strike.

The Kovel Online Telegram channel reported a large-scale attack by Shahed drones on railway infrastructure in Kovel. Suspilne reported explosions in the city.

Air raid alerts remained in effect in Volyn and Rivne oblasts because of the Shahed drone attack.
