The Russian military is redeploying some of its reserves to
Belgorod Oblast near the Ukrainian border, Vitalii Sarantsev, spokesperson for Ukraine’s
Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group, told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Aug. 28.
According to Sarantsev, Russian forces are also increasing the number of their units in Kharkiv Oblast through internal rotations and supplementing their personnel with reserves.
“We also have information that the enemy is bringing additional personnel from Leningrad Oblast to Belgorod Oblast to involve these soldiers in future assault operations [in Ukraine],” he said.
“We'll provide more details on the specific directions separately.”
While Ukraine managed to blunt and stall Russia’s Kharkiv offensive that began on May 10, enemy troops still maintain control of a strip of land near the international border in the region.
