Russia sharply increases Shahed drone attacks on Ukraine’s southern front

He said Russian forces carried out 370 strikes in the Kherson direction, compared to the usual 200–250 drone attacks. Overall, strikes along the southern front increased from 400–450 to nearly 670 in a day.

In the area under the southern Defense Forces’ responsibility, the level of combat clashes remains relatively low, Voloshyn said.

He reported six clashes in the Dnipro and Kherson directions, mostly during enemy attempts to gain control of islands in the Dnipro River delta. On the Zaporizhzhya front, there were three battles where Russian forces tried to advance toward Novoandriivka.

On the Huliaipole front, one attack was recorded near Malynivka. Russian forces are actively using aviation there, striking settlements close to the front line.

Voloshyn said the enemy is regrouping forces and equipment, concentrating assault group personnel at forward positions to resume active offensive operations in the coming days.

He added that artillery and air strikes remain intense: 206 artillery shellings were recorded in the past day, and aviation continues using both guided bombs and unguided missiles.
