Truce ignored: Russia stepped up attacks — DeepState

 Russian forces carried out 193, 196, and 161 assaults on May 8, 9, and 10, respectively, according to military analysts. For comparison, the average daily number of attacks in April was 155.

“The battlefield activity doesn’t resemble a ceasefire at all — it looks more like an intensification of efforts disguised by false declarations from Russia’s military and political leadership,” analysts at DeepState said.

They added that the so-called truce “never took place along almost the entire front line,” noting only a few isolated instances of reduced activity.

As of the morning of May 11, Ukraine’s General Staff reported 161 combat engagements in the previous 24 hours. Russian invaders conducted 63 airstrikes, dropped 96 guided bombs, and carried out more than 4,000 artillery and mortar attacks across various fronts.

Putin’s “Three-Day Truce”

On April 28, Vladimir Putin announced a unilateral “truce” to mark Victory Day on May 9. The ceasefire was supposed to begin at 12:00 a.m. on May 8 and end at 12:00 a.m. on May 11.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the proposal, reiterating Ukraine’s call for a full 30-day ceasefire.

On May 8, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said the so-called truce was a “sham,” as Russian attacks continued unabated.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said Russian forces had shelled Sumy Oblast and continued assaults in eastern Ukraine and Kharkiv Oblast during the so-called truce.

This was not the first time the Kremlin has announced a unilateral ceasefire. Putin declared a similar “Easter truce” from the evening of April 19 to midnight on April 21, which was also widely disregarded by Russian forces.
