Ukrainian air defenses intercept 7 Russian missiles and neutralize 60 of 76 drones in overnight strike

Russian invaders launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine using a variety of weapons, including 76 drones, one Iskander-M ballistic missile, five S-300/S-400 surface-to-air missiles, and one Kh-22 cruise missile.
Ukraine’s air defenses intercepted and destroyed 60 Shahed UAVs and various types of simulator drones across the north, south, east, and central regions of the country, as well as one ballistic missile.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported hitting six missiles and 16 drones across eight locations. The fall of downed drones and debris was recorded in two areas.
On the evening of Aug. 2, Russian troops launched a missile strike on the southern city of Mykolaiv, injuring seven people, igniting fires, and causing widespread destruction.
Overnight, multiple oblasts sounded air raid alerts amid continued drone and missile attacks. Explosions were heard in Kyiv during a ballistic missile warning.
In Balakliia, Kharkiv Oblast, at least 10 explosions were reported during a massive drone strike, causing residential fires. Three people were injured in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv Oblast, after another drone attack.
