Moscow has rejected an Easter ceasefire – a four-day humanitarian halt to hostilities in Ukraine proposed by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres – Ukrainian envoy to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsya said in a Twitter post on April 21.

“The position of the Fuhrer in Moscow was made clear in a matter of hours in the (UN) Security Council (meeting),” said Kyslytsya.

Russian UN ambassador described the proposed ceasefire as “a duplicitous and insincere, in the current circumstances, call for peace.”

He said that the ceasefire would be “an attempt to give Kyiv radicals and nationalists a breather, allowing them to regroup,” adding that it would allow Ukraine to “stage further inhuman provocations and spread fake news about Russian soldiers.”
