Russia strikes rail sites in three oblasts, destroying wagon and damaging locomotive

Russia struck railway infrastructure in Ukraine’s Kharkiv, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, Communities and Territories Development Minister Oleksii Kuleba said on Telegram on May 5.

According to the official, at about 07:30 a.m. a Russian drone struck and destroyed a train car in Ukraine’s Kharkiv Oblast.

The conductor moved in time to a mobile shelter. The locomotive crew was also protected, and no one was injured.

In Poltava Oblast, an enemy drone hit between the tracks near a diesel locomotive, damaging a railcar and sparking a fire. No casualties were reported.

Another Russian strike hit a station in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. A drone attack damaged an electric locomotive on the tracks.

The train was halted due to the drone threat, and staff remained in shelter, avoiding injuries.

Overnight, Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones. In Kyiv Oblast, three people were injured, with strikes reported in the Brovary and Vyshhorod districts.

In Poltava Oblast, four people were killed and 31 injured in a strike that also damaged gas production facilities.
