Russian forces targeted an energy facility in Ukraine’s northern Chernihiv Oblast overnight, Chernihivoblenergo, the regional energy company, reported on Telegram early on Oct. 8.

The attack left more than 4,500 households and businesses in the Nizhyn district without electricity.

Emergency crews are already working on the site to restore power, the company said.

Earlier, the national rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia reported that several train services had been canceled temporarily and that rail traffic had been disrupted after Russian strikes hit the city of Nizhyn and its suburbs. Some trains are operating on altered routes, while services from Sumy to Lviv and Uzhhorod to Kharkiv are delayed by about two hours.
