Russian troops near Vovchansk, Kharkiv Oblast, are preparing for an assault by regrouping and conducting personnel rotations, according to the Kharkiv operational-tactical group on Aug. 10.

The Ukrainian military reports that the enemy has regrouped assault groups from the 153rd Tank Regiment and is conducting internal personnel rotations within the 138th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade.

Additionally, the occupiers have increased their use of drones in the Kozach Lopan—Zolochiv direction, likely to locate Ukrainian units, according to the Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Group.

The group also noted that four combat clashes occurred in Vovchansk over the past day.

On August 10, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the significant redeployment of elements from Russia's Northern Group of Forces to Kursk Oblast might suggest that the Russian military command has deemed disrupting the offensive in northern Kharkiv Oblast a "necessary sacrifice" to adequately respond to the invasion of Kursk Oblast.

After Russian forces attempted to breach Ukraine's defenses near Vovchansk in Kharkiv Oblast on May 10, Ukrainian troops regained control over most of the city, according to Khortytsia's OSUV in June.

On July 2, the Kharkiv military group reported that Russian occupiers had moved three assault groups to Vovchansk to replace casualties.

On July 13, the military stated that Russia was trying to regroup its units in the direction of Liptsi and Vovchansk, and was preparing units for attacks in the city.

On July 26, the ISW reported advances by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Vovchansk.
