A Russian overnight attack damaged critical infrastructure in Ukraine's Vinnytsia Oblast, regional governor Natalia Zabolotna said on Oct. 18.

According to Zabolotna, damage to critical infrastructure has caused emergency power outages across Vinnytsia Oblast.

"Where necessary, critical infrastructure facilities are switching to backup power sources," she said.

She added that energy workers were already working to restore electricity supplies, but the power situation would remain unstable in the near future.

On Oct. 17, Russian forces launched one of their largest attacks on Vinnytsia Oblast, injuring six people. The city of Vinnytsia was left completely without power.

The city's water utility also reported a power outage at Vinnytsia's main water supply station. According to the utility, generators will not be able to maintain water supplies to all buildings or every floor.
