Russia targets DTEK's energy facility in Odesa, leaving thousands without power

The attack resulted in power outages affecting thousands of households. The company reported that by morning, electricity supply had been restored to nearly 15,000 homes using backup lines where possible.

Once clearance is received from emergency services, a full assessment of the damage will begin, DTEK said. The priority is to restore power to critical infrastructure, including heating facilities.

The company assured residents that repair work would continue around the clock until power is fully restored.

Russian attack on Odesa on Feb. 19

Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov reported that over 500 residential buildings were left without electricity, water, and heating due to the attack. Additionally, dozens of schools, kindergartens, and a children's clinic were affected, leading to the cancellation of classes in the Kyivskyi district.

The Odesa Oblast Military Administration added that the strike damaged a children's clinic and several multi-story buildings, with four people, including a child, injured.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that at least 160,000 people in Odesa have been left without heat and electricity as a result of a massive Russian drone strike.

"Precisely yesterday, after the notorious meeting in Riyadh, it became known that Russian representatives were lying again about not striking energy facilities. Almost at the same time — such a strike, attack drones against power transformers," Zelenskyy stated.
