Explosions echoed in the Khmelnytskyi and Odesa regions during a Russian Shahed drone attack on the night of Dec. 22, according to reports from the Khmelnytskyi Regional Administration and the Ukrainian military.

"Khmelnytskyi region,” Serhiy Tyurin, the first deputy chief of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Administration, wrote on Telegram.

“Air defense systems are operational. Stay in shelters until the air alarm is lifted!"

By 01:23 a.m., the military had confirmed that air defense systems were also actively countering the threat in Odesa Oblast.

"It's loud in the Odesa region,” the military wrote.

“Air defense systems are engaged against Shahed drones!"

While the alarm in Odesa Oblast was lifted by 02:20 a.m., the threat persisted for Khmelnytskyi and other western oblasts.

The assault continued as Russians targeted Kyiv with Shahed drones, resulting in debris striking a residential building in the Solomianskyi district and an uninhabited structure in the Darnytskyi district on the evening of Dec. 21.

According to the State Emergency Service (DSNS), two individuals sustained injuries, and several apartments suffered damage.
