Authorities warned of a potential second strike following an overnight drone attack in Sumy.
According to the regional military administration, one of the drones hit Independence Square in the city center, damaging the Sumy OVA (regional administration) building. No casualties or injuries were reported. Emergency services are working at the scene and surveying the area.
The strike was part of a larger Russian aerial assault overnight on July 26, which triggered air raid alerts across several Ukrainian oblasts due to the threat of missiles and attack drones.
Explosions were reported in the Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhya oblasts.
In Kharkiv Oblast, the Russian military launched a massive strike on the city of Zmiiv in the Chuhuiv district, injuring three people. Several fires broke out in the Zaporizhzhya Oblast, and a non-residential building was hit.
Russia launched 208 Shahed-type attack drones, various decoy drones, and 27 missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. Ukrainian defense forces shot down or suppressed 200 of the airborne targets.
