The Russian forces executed an overnight drone strike targeting gas extraction infrastructure operated by the Naftogaz Group in Poltava Oblast into Oct. 15, the national energy company announced in an official release.

An incoming strike unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck and damaged critical technical processing equipment, sparking an immediate fire at the facility.

Operational activity at the extraction site has been completely suspended.

"Employees were in shelters at the moment of the attack; none of the personnel were injured. Assessment of the consequences and the full scale of destruction is currently underway on-site," stated Serhiy Fedorenko, acting Board Chair in Naftogaz Group.

Overnight into Oct. 12, Russian forces launched a precision strike against another Naftogaz gas extraction facility located in Kharkiv Oblast, severely damaging critical production equipment.

On Sept. 22, Russian invading forces fired ballistic missiles at a separate oil and gas complex operated by Naftogaz in Poltava Oblast.

Targeted Poltava asset had earlier sustained dozens of Russian missile and drone impacts since 2022, leaving its core refining units disabled long-term. However, the Sept. 22 strike inflicted catastrophic, non-recoverable damage, permanently eliminating the possibility of the complex ever being restored or returning to active service.
