Updated at 2:26 p.m. Semenikhin said that, miraculously, no one was injured in the attack, although hospital buildings were damaged.
He clarified that the incident was not caused by a falling Shahed drone, but by a direct strike, as the Russian drone deliberately approached the hospital to attack it.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force warned that a drone was heading toward Konotop from western Sumy Oblast and toward Zavodske from the south of the region.
Earlier on June 1, Sumy Oblast Governor Oleh Hryhorov said Russian forces had attacked civilian vehicles in Konotop district. In the Krolevets community, Russian drones struck trucks at a gas station, setting two tractor-trailers on fire. In the Buryn community, an enemy drone hit a passenger vehicle on a roadway.
Over the past 24 hours, 10 people were injured in Russian attacks across Sumy Oblast. Russian forces shelled 41 settlements in the region more than 90 times, according to local authorities.
During the night of May 20, Russia launched a large-scale drone attack on Konotop. One Shahed drone struck a five-story apartment building, causing three floors to collapse. A 94-year-old woman was killed and 11 people were injured.
