Russia attacks Ukraine’s state coal mine with drones for more than six hours overnight

About 18 strikes hit the mine, sparking a fire. Two workers were injured. Rescuers extinguished the blaze within several hours.

Andarak also said the situation in the energy system remains difficult due to Russian shelling.

Overnight, Russian forces struck energy infrastructure facilities in Odesa Oblast. As of the morning, more than 90,000 consumers remain temporarily without electricity. Critical infrastructure is operating on generators, and restoration work is ongoing.

The Energy Ministry said the most difficult situation is in border and frontline oblasts, where repairs are possible only after clearance from the military.

The ministry added that the government is taking decisions to optimize energy consumption to free up additional electricity volumes. Consultations are also underway with frontline oblasts on supplying critical infrastructure with backup power sources.

On Dec. 12, hourly power outage schedules are being applied in all oblasts of Ukraine. Restrictions also apply to industrial consumers.
