Russian drones struck an industrial facility in the town of Manevychi in Ukraine's Volyn Oblast, sparking a major fire, regional governor Roman Romaniuk said on Telegram on Oct. 18.

According to him, the strike took place on the morning of Oct. 18. He added that warehouses and production facilities were on fire.

"The fire is intense, covering a large area, with heavy smoke," the statement said.

He added that all relevant emergency services were working at the scene and efforts to deal with the aftermath of the attack were underway.

According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.

"The wind is blowing toward the town, so I urge local residents to stay indoors if possible, keep windows and doors tightly closed, turn off ventilation systems that draw in outside air and avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary. The situation is difficult but under control," the regional military administration chief concluded.

Later, Manevychi Mayor Oleksandr Havryliuk urged residents of the Trydtsiatka neighborhood to temporarily leave their homes because of heavy smoke.

"I insist! Leave your homes and go stay with friends in other parts of the town. There is heavy smoke, and the wind is blowing from the north," he wrote.

Overnight on Oct. 18, beginning at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with an Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from Russia's Voronezh Oblast, as well as 180 attack drones, including Shahed-type drones (26 of them jet-powered), S-8000 Banderol/Dan-T drones, Gerbera drones and decoy drones.

The Russian attack damaged critical infrastructure facilities in Vinnytsia Oblast, causing emergency power outages across Oblast.

On the evening of Oct. 17, Russia began attacking Ukraine with jet-powered Shahed drones and guided aerial bombs. A ballistic missile strike was also reported in Kharkiv, causing injuries. In Zaporizhzhia, Russian forces struck a residential building, killing a 27-year-old woman.

In Poltava, a Russian drone struck an area of private homes, killing one person and injuring two others. Four houses were damaged in the attack.
