Russian troops advanced near six Ukrainian settlements in two front sectors in Donetsk Oblast, the DeepState monitoring group reported on Telegram early on Jan. 2, posting the updated map of the frontlines.
In the Kurakhove sector, the enemy advanced in the city of Kurakhove and its southern suburbs, as well as near Neskuchne.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces gained ground near the village of Vovkove, in Novoyelizavetivka, Solone, and Vozdvyzhenka.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the intensive Russian attacks in these sectors, reporting a total of 125 combat engagements on Jan. 1, including 35 and 18 near Pokrovsk and Kurakhove, respectively. Over the past 24 hours, the enemy has fired more than 3,000 rounds at Ukrainian positions.
