Russian forces launch dozens of missiles, 160+ drones against Ukraine

During the overnight assault on Ukraine, Russian forces launched the following munitions:

• Oniks anti-ship missiles
• Iskander-M, S-400, KN-23 ballistic missiles
• 32 Kh-101 cruise missiles
• 166 Shahed drones (mainly jet-powered ones), Gerbera drones, and Parodiya decoy UAVs

The attack mainly targeted Kyiv and Odesa Oblasts.

As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted:

• 2 Iskander-M, S-400, KN-23 ballistic missiles
• 31 Kh-101, Iskander-K cruise missiles
• 142 attack drones

Missiles and drones struck 29 separate locations, while falling debris from intercepted targets caused damage in nine other areas.

The Air Force cautioned that the attack is still ongoing, with nearly ten Russian drones still in Ukrainian airspace.

September 8 Russian attack on Kyiv

Russian forces fired a barrage of drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles at Ukraine overnight on September 8, damaging high-rises, commercial buildings, and warehouses across five districts in Kyiv.

Emergency crews evacuated residents trapped in damaged high-rise buildings and extinguished fires at garages, warehouses, and business centers. Preliminary reports indicate that at least two people were killed and ten others were injured in the attack.

Additionally, the attack forced Kyiv officials to set up traffic detours and temporarily alter city bus, trolleybus, and tram routes, including suspending the #25 tram line entirely.
