Vlasiuk said that the data would help Ukraine more quickly trace supply chains delivering components to Russia and eventually disrupt them. He spoke at The Kyiv Sanctions Forum, Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported.

“Regarding electronics, this is typical: the specific Shaheds we examined contain just under 100 foreign components,” Vlasiuk said.

“They include U.S., Chinese, Taiwanese, German, and Japanese parts.”

Ukraine is sharing the information with its partners and urging them to increase sanctions pressure, he added.

“First, all Russian defense manufacturers should be added to sanctions lists; second, all suppliers,” Vlasiuk said.

However, suppliers should be prioritized when sanctions are imposed, he said, because some are established companies while others may be “one-time” entities.

On Sept. 2, The Wall Street Journal, citing documents and Western officials, reported that a network of companies operating in the Maldives was helping Russia evade sanctions.

According to the newspaper, transactions involving hundreds of millions of dollars in goods subject to restrictions or intended for sanctioned companies were carried out at one of the country’s airports. Some of the goods could be used for both civilian and military purposes.

Documents and officials indicated that the airport’s cargo terminals were often filled with aviation electronics and other restricted goods, the Journal reported.
